What Is The Course About?
Teach the Teacher is a two-day portfolio course designed for Doctors looking to improve their teaching skills or looking to take on formal teaching roles in their future practice.
This course (awaiting CPD certification) will provide a structured approach to the fundamentals of teaching with a comprehensive focus on the practical aspects of how to tailor your educational style within healthcare.
Who Is The Course For?
The course has been designed by UK-based Doctor’s. For this reason, the practical components of teaching have been focused on working in the NHS. These specific areas may be less applicable to Doctors working outside the UK. However, the other aspects of the courses will be relevant for all Doctors regardless of their country of practice.
How Is The Course Structured
We start with the learning models for both Adults and Children before delving into further depth from an applied approach of how we learn and how factors relevant to healthcare and the NHS impact our learning.
After getting to grips with the learning models we move on to practical tips on how to apply those skills in real-world scenarios. We also explore how to use and apply this information in your own learning. We utilize interactivity throughout the two-day course to maximise learning.
The course format includes sections with small group teaching in the form of breakout rooms, gamification components to improve interactivity and opportunities to ask questions and gain direct feedback from presenters throughout the course.
At the end of the course, all candidates will have the opportunities to produce and deliver a presentation and subsequently deliver and receive feedback to and from one another.

These include study-from-home virtual options, special adjustment single day as well as split-day course options (upon request) and various other accommodations to make it easier for our members to attend

Small Group Sizes
We believe that a teach-the-teacher course should be interactive, which is why we have a small group approach to our teaching so that if you have a question, the lecturer can answer.
In addition to limiting the group sizes for the course, we also have sections for separate “breakout rooms” in which candidates will split into even smaller rooms.
Expert Teachers
The course was designed from the ground up by Doctor’s with training in teaching.
The delivery of the course is performed by our teach-the-teacher course lead, who is a Doctor with a Masters in Teaching. The assisting lecturers are also Doctor’s with extensive teaching experience.
Flexibility
We understand that Doctor’s have challenging rotas and schedules. It’s not always easy to get study leave.
Sometimes commitments can clash with course dates. or make travelling to course venues difficult.
We believe in widening access to educational opportunities which is why we make adjustments for our attendees wherever we can.
We offer individual adjustments including study-from-home virtual options, special adjustment single day as well as split-day course options (upon request) and various other accommodations to make it easier for our members to attend.
